Making Notes with Live Printing| Event report
2024.01.19
Hello everyone. MUJI Hiroshima Parco.
You want to start a new year with your favorite new notebook, right?
The other day, we held a workshop to make original notes with live print printing.
The lecturer is a live version of Kampanella.
It is a shop that handles live print printing and miscellaneous goods in Onomichi, a town of the sea and hills.
An old private house was renovated in the Yamate area where the traditional scenery of Onomichi remains, and opened in 2016, and a printing experience that anyone can enjoy is held in hope that it will be an opportunity to experience the fun of design and manufacturing.
By the way, what is Kappanin-satsu?
A technique of making a plate by arranging each type of "print" in which characters are shaped like a pattern, adding ink to uneven surfaces and transferring them to paper.
The Bible was printed in 15th century Germany and spread throughout the world, and in Japan around 1965-75 is considered to be the heyday.
This time, we will collect and print illustrations of extinct animals and characters of their favorite words in the notebook of MUJI.
Once you decide on an illustration, start with the work of "Bunsen" to pick up the type.
I'm thrilled to just look at the type that is lined with slurry.
In order to attach the plate to the printing press, we asked them to attach it to the frame.
Around the plate, shime wood made of wood, metal, and shime gold are laid, and it is firmly fixed with a jack.
Finally, we attach the plate to the printing press and print it on the notebook.
Apply pressure on the handle and print it on the notebook.
The ink is on a round place, and when the handle is lowered, the roller wraps the ink and prints it on paper.
"Wow, that's how it works," everyone is very curious.
In the past, many people used printing presses.
Now it seems that the reprint version can be made at a high price by order production, but it seems that it is difficult to get it.
This printing machine is also very old.
We had you put favorite words and words with thought along with illustrations, and many original wonderful notebooks were completed.
The smell of ink that you can see from actually experiencing it in front of you, and the uneven texture unique to the print plate.
The texture and sharpness also have a taste, and it's cool.
When we were listening to the various tools of the active edition, their names, and the mechanism of the active edition, the more we heard it, the deeper it was and really interesting.
It is a very valuable opportunity to be able to actually experience the live print, which was once the center of printing. Everyone who participated was also curious about the live version and talked happily.
It would be nice if you would like to use it a lot in the future.
