MUJI
Workshop to enjoy different materials of rice straw and bamboo| Event report
2024.09.07
Hello everyone. MUJI Hiroshima Parco.
The other day, we invited Aya Nishi Amau Jinnai to hold a workshop on bamboo basket arrangement.
Aya Nishii amunau Jinnai is also working as a community revitalization team in Toyoei-cho, Higashihiroshima City. Based in the town, we knit and knit together to deliver traditional straw handicrafts that will continue and will continue.
On this day, a workshop in which straw strings are woven into MUJI's "4th bamboo material knitted basket with handle" and arranged into original baskets.
The gap in this basket is the size that the straw string just passes through.
Mr. Jinnai once saw this basket and suggested it, and this time it was realized.
We knit while spraying water on the basket and string so that it is difficult to cut and stretch easily.
You can knit freely, such as Naminami, Baten, diagonal lines, etc.
I made it with your favorite combination.
This straw string seems to be the part that was originally discarded, called the glutinous rice straw hakama (leaf), which was taken by Mr. Jinnai hand.
In fact, glutinous rice straw is used for straw work.
"Glutinous rice is not only rice but also straw, which is suitable for knitting," says Jinnai.
It's amazing that the straw is soft, isn't it?
Everyone carefully knitted while thinking about the design, and the wonderful arrangement of rice straw and bamboo baskets was completed.
Knit vertically and shift the pattern, and they are all different and cute.
The atmosphere is completely different from the one woven with only bamboo, and it has a very nice texture.
Everyone was excited to say, "What should I put in?"
The baskets arranged by your own hands will also be attached.
I want you to use it a lot at home and love it.
By the way, in December, we are also planning a workshop on the New Year decoration of Mr. Ninii.
Please look forward to it.
